14-year-old girl chained by her parents regains freedom


A teenage girl, identified as Onyeka John, has regained freedom after she was allegedly chained by her mother to the burglar-proof bars for about one month.

The girl lived with her parents in a rented apartment on Serebe Street, Abaranje, in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Man jailed six months for stealing batteries, assault


An Iyaganku Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Friday sentenced one Kehinde Akinpade, 33, to three months’ imprisonment for stealing two batteries from a vehicle parked on the street he resided.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs. Patricia Adetuyibi, said, “Having found the convict guilty of the offence and seeing that he was not in a good frame of mind, the court sees that he needs rehabilitation.

Man on trial for disappearing with 65 goats

A 45-year-old man, Kazeem Fatai, who allegedly obtained 65 goats under false pretences, and also beat up the seller, was on Monday in Lagos granted bail in the sum of N200,000.

The accused, who resides at Ajegunle area of Apapa Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, assault and obtaining money under false pretences, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Man docked over alleged theft of 4 bags of cement


A 21-year-old man, Rilwan Adebayo, was on Monday brought before a Modakeke Magistrate’s Court in Osun for allegedly stealing four bags of cement.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 25, around 10:00 a.m. at Olorunsogo Area, off Ogunofeke, Modakeke, in the Ife North-East local government area of Osun.
