Robbers kill policeman, snatch seven cars in C’River


Bandits on Friday operated in Calabar freely for over three hours, killing an unidentified Inspector of Police that led a team to stop the robbery operations at a popular hotel located behind the headquarters of the Zone 6 Police Command.

34 oil thieves convicted


THE Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday said it secured 34 convictions recently in its fight against oil theft and pipeline vandalism in Rivers State.

Court jails man 108 years for assaults on children


A court in Turkey has sentenced a Turkish man to 108 years in jail for sexually assaulting at least eight Syrian children at a flagship refugee camp, reports said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old man, identified only as Erdal E., worked as a cleaner at the tented refugee camp in Nizip in the southern Gaziantep province near the Syrian border.

Enugu motorists lament as faulty traffic lights cause accidents


Some motorists in Enugu have expressed anger over dysfunctional traffic control lights in parts of the state capital.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Sunday in Maiduguri, Borno State, alerted residents to the menace of kerosene mixed with petrol, which was in circulation in the state.

The Borno State NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, who spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, said some residents alerted the command to the circulation of the adulterated commodity.
