The police in Bayelsa State say they have apprehended two teenagers for robbing boutique owners at a gun point.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, gave the names of the suspects as Thurlbert Femi, 19, and Festus Fefegha, 18.
Butswat said the Femi and Fefegha, armed with a locally made pistol, entered the boutique of one Sunday Anyigor and robbed him of assorted wears and other valuables.
The police spokesman said the incident occurred at Okaka area of Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
Bustwat said the suspects were unlucky when Anyigor and his wife, not deterred by the gun pointed at them, locked the shop and raised the alarm which attracted the neighbours.
He said the neighbours in turn informed the police who swooped on the scene and got the suspects arrested.
He said the suspects were already detained at a police station and that investigation was ongoing.
A statement released by Butswat said, “On the February 3, 2016, at about 1920hrs, the duo of one Thurlbert Femi, male, 19 years and one Festus Fefegha, 18, armed with a locally-made pistol, entered the boutique of one Sunday Anyigor, at Okaka Street, Yenagoa.
“The suspects selected assorted wears and other valuables and pointed the gun at the shopowner(Anyigor) and his wife.
“Consequently, the shopowner bravely locked the robbers inside and alerted neighbours and the police. The robbers were arrested and the exhibits recovered. Investigation is ongoing.”
Meanwhile, the State Police Command has said that normalcy has returned to Premabiri community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state following widespread violence that marred the recently concluded governorship poll.
Butswat said security agencies in the state had unanimously condemned any form of banishment in any community.
He said every Nigerian has the right to live anywhere in the country and to own immovable property within the country.
He urged people who were displaced from their communities to return, noting that adequate security measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety.
