The Kano State Hisbah Board on Saturday arrested 31 young girls within the Kano metropolis over their alleged involvement in immoral acts.
Spokesman of the board, Sani Tanko, disclosed to reporters in Kano that the suspects were apprehended in a hotel during a special operation at the Sabon Gari area of the metropolis, predominantly occupied by non-indigenes.
Tanko said shortly after the arrest, the board’s officials screened the suspects and released those identified to be first time offenders on bail, while others were referred to the legal department for further action.
According to Tanko, those whose parents refuse to claim them will be charged to court for proper prosecution.
He advised parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children to enable them become useful to the society, as well as contribute positively to the development of the country.
