Lagos magistrate’s car damage: Mother of 3 released on bail

Yetunde Osijo

Osijo Yetunde, the woman, who allegedly drove her car recklessly and damaged a magistrate’s vehicle in Lagos on Monday, has been released on bail.

The Chief Magistrates’ Court 4, Ogba in Ikeja presided over by Mr A. Elias, under whose jurisdiction the accident occurred, gave the ruling on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osijo, a mother of three, was admitted to a bail of N100, 000. She had pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of dangerous driving causing damage and attempt to pervert the course of justice by escaping from the scene of a crime.

The offences contravened Section 18 and 19 (1) of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2012 as well as Section 97 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Osijo reportedly hit the Toyota Corolla car of Ogudu Magistrate, Mrs Sule Amzat, driven by her driver on Monday at Alapere-Ogudu towards the Third Mainland Bridge and drove off.
