Four killed in cult related acts, as residents raise alarm over robbery attacks

No fewer than four persons were in the early hours of yesterday allegedly killed, while two others were seriously injured in a cult related war which occurred in Alihami community, Ika South local government area of the state. It was gathered that the killings heightened apprehension and tension around the students’ dominated area of Agbor, a development that had also crippled business activities within the area.

Sources said that two girls fighting over boyfriends triggered the cult war, a situation they invited their members of rival groups to fight for them. One of the girls, sources said, sustained gunshot wounds and is currently being treated in an undisclosed hospital. Meanwhile, the community’s anti-cult group has arrested one of the prime suspects and handed him over to Agbor Divisional Police Station for further investigation. But the Division Police Officer in charge of Agbor Division, Mr. Akintunde Oyeniran confirmed one dead, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Noting that efforts at tracking the cultists were being hampered by residents’ refusal to co-operate with the police, Oyeniran disclosed that a girl sustained gunshot injury, saying that the police had established relationship between the girl and the person shot dead. In another development, residents of DLA area in Asaba yesterday raised alarm over frequent robbery attacks by armed bandits.

The residents, who spoke to The Guardian on condition of anonymity, said

the armed bandits frequently broke into their shops and houses at night, and at gunpoint, rob them of their belongings. A resident, Mrs. Mary Okwe, said she had lost close to N1.5million to the robbers in recent times after they broke into her shop and carted away goods.

Also, a middle-aged business woman Princess Ngozi Eze was on Thursday robbed of her handsets and N60, 000 right inside the popular Ogbeogonogo market in Asaba while she was negotiating prices of foodstuff. Speaking to our reporter, Eze said: “Bad boys took my bag from my shoulder when I was pricing foodstuff.

It contained my phones and N60,000, I could not trace them as they disappeared”.
