Police arraign suspected cultists for murder


The police on Wednesday arraigned two suspected cultist, who are members of the Aye Confraternity for murder before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The prosecutor, Mr. Mereti Wilson told the court that the two accused: Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu killed Shina Akinwale and Adekunle Badmus and also inflicted machete cut on Aderemi Adepoju and left him unconscious.

The prosecutor said Badmus was killed on the football field of the Technical School, Osogbo on August 15 while Akinwale was killed at Oke Onitea area.


The prosecutor said, “Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu on 15th of August 2016 at about 12:15 pm at Oke-Oniti area killed one Akinwale Shina by firing him with a gun which caused his death and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1) criminal code cap 34.vol. II.

“On the same date, time and place the accused persons ( Saheed and Razaki) did kill one Adekunle Badmus by inflicting machete and axe cut on his head which caused his death and thereby committed and offense contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1)”

” You ( Saheed and Razaki) did attempt to murder one Aderemi Adepoju on 23rd October, 2016 by inflicting machete cut on his head and all over his body which left him in comma.

“Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu belong to an unlawful society called Aye and thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under section 64(a) (b) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. II.”

The two accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

Counsel for the accused persons, M.O. Abiona, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail.

But Magistrate, Habibat Bashiru, who ruled against him said the offence was a capital one.

The magistrate ordered that the two accused persons be remanded in Ilesha Prison and adjourned the case.
