Court admits gay suspects to N200, 000 bail in Edo

An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin City, Edo State, has admitted two gay suspects, Paul Frank, 31 and Ejimofor Christian, 22, to N100,000 bail each.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. M.C. Ojobo, said they should provide a surety each in like sum.

She said the sureties must be civil servants with the state government.

The duo, facing charges of conspiracy, unlawful carnal knowledge and stealing, were remanded in prison on December 28 for the consideration of their bail applications.

Prosecutor O. A. Enebabor told the court that the accused committed the offences between December 14 and 17 on Boundary Road, Benin City.

He alleged that the accused engaged in unlawful sexual act.

Enebabor said the first accused stole a Techno Y6 phone, valued at N25, 000 from Solomon Shaibu.

The offences contravened sections 21 (3), 217 (3), 390 (3) and 516 of the Criminal Code.

The magistrate adjourned the case for hearing.
