Enugu police arrest youth for murder


POLICE detectives in Enugu have arrested a youth for allegedly killing his friend on last year Christmas day.

The suspect who gave his name as Onyekachi Omego was said to have hit the man on his head with with a stick.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said that the suspect blamed the devil for pushing to commit the crime.

Amarizu quoted the suspect as saying, “it was the devil that pushed me towards hitting my friend with a stick on his head which left him unconscious before he die.”

The police image maker said: “The incident took place at Oduma Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu state on December 25, 2016 at about 11.00 p.m, when the suspect hit the victim, identified as one Ohabuike with stick on his head over a yet-to-be established issue.

The deceaced was left unconscious with blood gushing out of one of his ears before he was taken to a health centre at Oduma Aninri.

“He was later referred to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku/Ozalla where he was confirmed dead.”

The remains of the deceased had been deposited at Awgu District Hospital mortuary for autopsy while a full scale investigation into the incident had begun, the police spokesman added.
