A building contractor, Mr. Kelly Robert, lost three fingers after he was allegedly attacked at a building site by hoodlums, over payment of Community Development Association fee.

Kelly, who is recuperating at a private hospital, was attacked at Obas community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government of Edo State.

The attack occurred less than two weeks after Governor Godwin Obaseki signed into law a bill banning CDA’s activities.

In a petition to the police commissioner, Kelly, who wrote through his lawyer, Clinton Ogbebor, said he was attacked on April 11 while supervising a shopping complex.

He said he was surprised hoodlums stormed the site with weapons and demanded CDA fee.

The contractor said they refused his plea, as they shot sporadically and attacked his workers.

He said his demand for his phone made one of the attackers to use a machete to chop off three fingers in his left hand.

“These people terrorise residents. They should be arrested and prosecuted.”
