A 35-year-old man, Makawo Dano, has been remanded in the Katsina Prison for allegedly cutting the right hand finger of an 18-year-old lady, Yosi Lazarus.
Dano was also alleged to have taken Yosi’s handset and left her unconscious in Layin Baushe village, in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered that Yosi was later taken to Danja Comprehensive Health Centre by some Good Samaritans.
His elder brother, Samson Lazarus, reported the incident at the Kafur Police Division, which led to Dano’s arrest.
Dano was arraigned in court on charges bordering on causing grievous harm, attempt to commit culpable homicide and armed robbery.
The offences were said to be contrary to sections 241(c)(g) and 229 of the Penal Code, and Section 1(a)(b) of the Robbery and Fire Arms Act (Special Provision), 2004.
When Dano was arraigned before a Katsina Senior Magistrate’s Court on Monday, the presiding magistrate, Hajiya Falile Dikko, adjourned the case till July 3, 2017.
Dikko said, “This court will not ask you whether the allegations against you are true or false as your alleged offences are to be tried by a High court.”
