A 43-year-old man, Abdullahi Wahab, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 385 bundles of lace materials, valued at N12.m in the ldumota area of Lagos.

Wahab, a commercial driver, was arraigned on three counts bordering on conspiracy and theft.


PUNCH Metro learnt that Wahab was to transport the materials to Idumota, but he diverted them.

The police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter, said Wahab and others at large committed the offence on July 15, 2017.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The charges read in part, “That you, Abdullahi Wahab, and others now at large, on July 15, 2017, at about 1.20pm on John Street, ldumota, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal 300 bundles of lace materials, valued at N10,865,000, property of one Alhaja Joko Ojora.

“That you, and others at large, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal 85 bundles of lace materials valued at N1,785,000, property of one Alhaja Bimbo lmran.”

Wahab pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted the accused bail in the sum of N900,000 and adjourned the case
