An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday arraigned a 25 year old bus conductor, Tobi Ogunremi for allegedly biting off a passenger’s lip.
The defendant, who lives at 5, Idi-Orogbo Street, Rabinyan, Ijoko, Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of assault.
According to the Inspector Victor Eruada, the accused committed the offence on December 7, at Shyllon Junction, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Eruada said Ogunremi assaulted Olowoye Adedayo, after he refused to give him his balance from the money he paid for fare but later threw it on the ground.
He said Adedayo sustained injury in the mouth following the bite, as well as several punches he received from Ogunremi during the argument that ensued.
Eruada said the offence contravened Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe granted him N20,000 bail with two sureties.
He said the sureties should be employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State government.
