An angry man attacked his wife with kicks and blows for oversleeping on Thursday morning at Nyanchwa village in Kisii County.
Bonny Gesaka beat his wife, Melvin Nyabonyi accusing her of oversleeping abandoning her duties as a woman.
“I will not continue living with a lazy woman who is only interested in sleep abandoning and her duties. Our daughter goes to school without taking breakfast since her mother fails to wake up early to prepare breakfast for her before she goes to school,” he said.
Gesaka said she beat his wife up so that she can become aware of her duties as a woman.
Neighbors said Nyabonyi spends most of her time sleeping in the house.
“Nyabonyi is lazy since even cleaning her house has become hard for her. We hope the beating will open her mind so that she can be a responsible woman,” said Teresa Moraa.
Area administrator, Peter Babu called on men to stop beating their wives saying they may be arrested and be charged in court.
Babu urged women to be responsible in marriages since strong marriages are built by hard working women.
