Ibadan marital murder I can’t believe my brother is dead, says victim’s relative

Adelani Oyediran, brother of a France-based businessman, Lowo, allegedly killed by his wife on Tuesday, said the deceased’s wife learnt about his love-child six months ago.

The deceased’s wife, Yewande Oyediran, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the death and arraigned on Friday in the Iyaganku Magistrate Court.

The deceased’s brother, in a telephone interview, said he had yet to come to terms with the death of his younger brother.

Oyediran said he was not aware of any recent quarrel between his brother, Lowo and Yewande, before the latter was killed.

However, he noted that she had recently found out that her husband has a child from another woman.

“Lowo told me she got to know that he had a son from another woman about six months ago. He said she may have found out by checking his laptop unknowingly to him. She did not like to interact with his family members. The last time we spoke was on a Friday, four days before he was killed.

“We spoke about life generally and other issues. I didn’t know anything about his last moments because I did not expect that he would be gone so soon. He was supposed to have travelled to France today (Saturday). It is very painful,” Oyediran stated.

He described Lowo as an easy-going, promising young man and “a star of our generation,” adding that he was the family clown.

According to him, Lowo studied Agricultural Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and thereafter travelled to the University of Grenoble in France for his postgraduate studies in management.

He added that the deceased’s mother was unaware of his death. According to him, informing her about her son’s death can worsen the mother’s health.

“She is hypertensive and has glaucoma. The police have been very fair to both parties and everybody. Our prayer is for justice to take its course,” Oyediran said.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said in a telephone interview that “You are aware that she has been remanded in prison custody. I don’t want to make any further comments on it because the case is already in court.”
