Man hangs self in Ondo


A 42-year-old man, Ayo Boye, was found dangling from a tree behind a block firm in the Adofure area of Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday.

The owner of the block firm, who identified himself simply as Olanrewaju, explained that his workers called him on the telephone on Wednesday to inform him about the incident, stating that on getting to his office, he also saw the lifeless body.

Olanrewaju said, “We immediately reported the incident at a police station”

It was gathered that the deceased came from Abuja to Akure to attend a church service at a popular prayer center in the area where he took his life .

The founder of the prayer centre, Pastor Samson Oluwamodede, claimed ignorant of the incident.

He said, “There are many people that worship in my church; there is no way I can recognise everybody.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said the wife and relatives of the deceased had been contacted.

“We found a Nokia handset and a sum of N2,500 on him, we found the Bible on him, but we are not certain that he came to worship at the prayer center,” Joseph added.
