Police arrest man for stabbing friend to death


The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Samson Tella for stabbing his friend, Abiodun Abdulkareem, to death on Tuesday at Iyesi Ota, in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area.

The suspect was arrested by policemen attached to the Onipanu Division of the command after the incident, after a friend to the 25-year-old victim reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the division.

The suspect and the deceased had engaged in a hot argument before the suspect stabbed the deceased with a broken bottle in the neck.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, had ordered thorough investigation into the matter.

He said, “The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran Abeokuta, to take up the matter.”

He added that the police boss wanted residents of the state to always avoid unnecessary and unreasonable arguments that could lead to death.
