Police arrest 300 suspects in Benue


The Commissioner of Police, Benue State, Mr. Bashir Makama, has said that the command has arrested over 300 suspects who are involved in various criminal acts in the last three months.

Makama said this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command in the last 100 days in the state.

He said that 645 rounds of ammunition and 24 cartridges were recovered within the period, adding that 95 various items including vehicles, motorcycles, air conditioners, sound-proof generators, generator panels, electricity transformers, bags of marijuana, cattle and sheep were also recovered.


Makama added that 76 weapons including AK47 rifles, locally-made pistols, locally-made revolver pistols, pump action guns, English-made pistols, locally-made Barreta pistols, fabricated rifles, locally-made SMG as well as dane guns were recovered from the suspected criminals.

The Police boss said N2,117,620.00 cash was recovered during the period, attributing the efforts so far made to nip crime in the bud in the state to reactive, preventive and proactive strategies adopted by the command.
