Policeman hangs self after colleagues found indecent pictures

A police officer arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images was found has hung himself hours after he was released.

Other images were also found on electronic equipment on his arrest in April 2013.

Having been released on bail, the 33-year-old was given a lift to his parents’ home, also in Castleford.

But the dad-of-two got out of the car en route, explaining that he would walk the rest of the way to clear his head, according to Metro UK.

His body was found the next day at secondary school Rodillian Academy in nearby Wakefield.

Kevin’s father, Peter Ellis, who is a retihred police officer while giving evidence at the inquest at Wakefield Coroner’s Court, told the jury that he and his wife had no idea that their son had even been arrested.

Ellis said, “Had I known of Kevin’s arrest and that he was being bailed, I would have certainly collected him from the police.”

He said his son would have been aware of the implications of such serious allegations and that he should have been identified as at high risk of self harm.
