Sharia court remands 2 men for alleged sexual relationship with married woman in Zaria - Shepherd Digest Magazine



An Upper Sharia Court sitting at Tudun Wada, Zaria has remanded Usman Yusuf and Rabi’u Muhammadu in prison custody for two weeks for alleged criminal conspiracy in hiding a married woman and having sexual relationship with her for five days.

The prosecuting officer, Sergeant Adamu Yahaya of the Nigeria Police, while presenting the two accused persons, Usman Yusuf and Rabi’u Muhammadu before the court, said they were both charged under section 280, 122 and 178 SPC.


When the court asked the suspects whether they had committed the offence they were charged, the first accused person Rabiu Mohammed, confessed that he was the one that took her to his friend’s room at Layin Nabawa, Tudun Wada Zaria and kept her for five days but denied having sexual relationship with her.

The second accused person, Usman Yusuf said, he didn’t know she was a married woman and he did not have any sex with her as he was accused of.

After hearing the case, the upper Sharia Court Judge, Aminu Sa’ad sent them to prison for two weeks and ordered that the woman be taken to the hospital for medical check-up to ascertain her health condition.

When contacted, the married woman said she had misunderstanding with her husband that was why she left the house around 11:00pm, but that on her way to her family home, she met the first accused who asked her to follow him, which she did.


Meanwhile, her husband, who was in court refused to talk to the press.
