Two men were slashed with blades and thrashed when they were allegedly urinating in a public space in north Delhi’s Timarpur.
Rohit Saluja and his friend received cuts on their faces, necks and arms, but are out of danger. An investigator not authorised to speak to the media said three men have been arrested for the attack.
Hindustantimes reports that the incident took place in Sanjay Basti, a slum in north Delhi’s Timarpur on Monday night.
Saluja told police that his friend had just chosen a spot outside the slum to relieve himself when a local youth approached him and began raining slaps.
The attacker had objected to the act. When the two youths stood up to him, he immediately called his two friends who allegedly used blades to attack the duo, all the while raining kicks and blows on them.
“The youths were attacked for urinating in the open. We have arrested three men and booked them for causing hurt by using a dangerous weapon,” said the police officer.
Urination and defecation in the open can attract a fine of up to Rs 500 in Delhi.
