A home help, Cecile Ngumbo, has been charged to court after she was caught on camera assaulting and feeding her employer’s 15-month-old baby with vomit.
She was accused of subjecting a child to cruel punishment at Ngara estate in Nairobi on March 14.
The court heard that Ngumbo’s employer had installed CCTV cameras to monitor the house and she was shocked when she saw Ngumbo mistreating the baby.
Police records indicate that Ngumbo was seen feeding the baby on vomit, kicking and punching her.
Ngumbo’s employer confronted her, but she denied the accusations. The baby’s mother later reported the matter to the police, who arrested the house girl.
Ngumbo denied the charges. She pleaded that she was the sole breadwinner for her three children and asked the court for mercy.
The matter will be mentioned on April 4.
