34 oil thieves convicted

Court jails man 108 years for assaults on children


A court in Turkey has sentenced a Turkish man to 108 years in jail for sexually assaulting at least eight Syrian children at a flagship refugee camp, reports said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old man, identified only as Erdal E., worked as a cleaner at the tented refugee camp in Nizip in the southern Gaziantep province near the Syrian border.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Sunday in Maiduguri, Borno State, alerted residents to the menace of kerosene mixed with petrol, which was in circulation in the state.

Some suspected hired assassins have killed Michael Ogunnusi, the owner of the Allonze Hotel on Ishawo Road, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, Zaria, today said it had developed a vaccine forTuta Absoluta, popularly known as ‘tomato ebola’.

The Public Relations Officer of the institute, Alhaji Bala Aliyu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Zaria, Kaduna State that an end had come to the disease, which had been ravaging tomato farms.
