The Delta State Police Command on Saturday said its operatives arrested a couple for allegedly stealing two babies during a christening ceremony at Ebedei Adonishaka in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, disclosed this on Saturday at a press briefing in Asaba, the state capital.

The command also disclosed that a 17-year-old boy, Lucky Eze, was arrested for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter (name withheld) at the Federal Housing Estate, Asaba.

Besides, Ibrahim said 30-year-old Orjiakor Chima of Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State was arrested for issuing fake euros to one Abdullahi Shuaibu, totalling one million, seven hundred and ninety-four thousand and five hundred naira.

“Consequently, detectives from ‘A’ Division Asaba were invited to the scene and arrested the suspect. When the suspect was searched, 87, 100 euro notes suspected to be fake, were found on him.”

He further said the command recovered 90 bags of cement allegedly stolen by five men who hijacked a truck along Ugbolu-Illah Road near Asaba driven by one Timothy Obado, a driver with Bua Cement Company, Okpella, Edo State on his way to Abakaliki.
