We remain part of Assemblies of God – S’South leaders

The South-South leaders of the Assemblies of God Nigeria say they still believe in the leadership of the church’s General Superintendent, Rev. (Dr.) Chidi Okoroafor, and its executive committee.

The South-South leaders, in a statement on Wednesday by Mr. Femi Adegoke, dissociated themselves from the agitation for the South-South General Council of Assemblies of God, describing it as “not only ungodly, absurd but also unconstitutional.”

The statement quoted them as saying that those calling for the South-South General Council of Assemblies of God Nigeria were misguided and misinformed, adding that it was an “exercise in futility designed to scuttle the decade of rapid multiplication programme and Abak (Akwa Ibom) 2016 missionary expeditions.”

They said that as the duly elected leaders of the region, they were in a position to gauge the mood of the members, which, according to them, are well disposed to the church’s current national leadership.

“We unequivocally and unreservedly dissociate ourselves from this vain agitation.

“We affirm our undivided loyalty and support to the General Council, Assemblies of God, Nigeria under the leadership of General Superintendent, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor.

“There is only one indivisible General Council of Assemblies of God Nigeria.

“We direct our brethren in all our various units to distance themselves from this or any other rebellious movement as their so-called agitation is baseless, selfish and devilish in all intent and purposes,” they said.

According to Adegoke, those who signed the statement are Rev. Friday Amirah, Rev. Living Joshua, Rev. (Prof.) Robert Ebuade and Rev. Issonguyo Eshiet and Rev. Emmanuel Udoaka of Warri, Bayelsa, Esan East, Calabar and Eket districts respectively.
