LASEMA seeks help in reducing emergencies

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency says it is ready to do the needful, including collaboration as well as partnering relevant stakeholders, to reduce emergencies.

The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele, said this on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Alausa.

He said, “Our readiness to collaborate with stakeholders is in line with the vision of the present administration to improve safety of lives and property. Thus, we are ready to work with stakeholders, such as the NSCDC, in curbing disasters and improving on search and rescue time.”

Akindele stated that one of the major challenges during emergencies was the issue of crowd of onlookers, who were always in the habit of taking photographs, thereby hampering emergency workers from carrying out their duties. He said the NSCDC could support LASEMA to control crowds during emergencies.

The Commandant of the state NSCDC command, Mr. Tajudeen Balogun, commended the state government for prompt response of its agencies during emergencies.
