A 25-year-old man committed suicide after his wife denied him sex on Tuesday at Nyabikondo village in Rioma Kisii County.
Neighbors said the deceased John Omanga threatened to hang himself after his wife, Christine Mokeira refused to have sex with him during the day.
“Omanga returned home drunk and demanded Mokeira to go to bed so that they can have sex. Mokeira refused and went to a nearby shop to buy salt and when she returned home she found Omanga’s lifeless body hanging from the roof of their bedroom,” said Charles Ong’ayo.
Confirming the incident area chief, Evans Mochoge said the deceased has been having trouble with his wife since they got married 2 years ago.
"The couple has been having trouble since they got married 2 years ago. They have no child and this led the man to venture into alcohol consumption due to stress. He hanged himself under the influence of alcohol after his wife denied him sex,” said the chief.
Mochoge urged married couples to solve their differences by involving local elders and government representatives instead of taking their own lives.
He said he alerted Rioma police officers who took the body of the deceased to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital.
