A woman in Nairobi has reportedly to have dumped her seven-old-day baby girl in Kabiria, Dagoreti South.
The lady only recognized as Agnes allegedly dumped her newly born child on Sunday, July 29, but the child was rescued by some of the residents the following day in the morning.
Ann, one of the residents, had gone to dump litter in the morning and heard the baby crying.
She called other residents who immediately reported the matter to the police and took the infant to Waithaka hospital for first aid and treatment.
She was confirmed safe and in good health.
The residents said that the lady expected to give birth to a baby boy but was rather blessed with a baby girl whom she never accepted.
“The lady came here last week and she was heard saying she has given birth to over 9 daughters and was expecting a son this time round,” said one of the residents.
Njambi Kanyoni the area chief had confirmed the incident and told police officers from Satellite Police Station to launch investigations on the matter and make sure she was arrested and charged.
"My office received the report but I have urged police to do an investigation and ensure the suspect is arrested and possibly charged,“ said Njambi
