Police arrest five kidnap, robbery suspects in Rivers


The Rivers State Police Command on Thursday said it had apprehended five armed robbery and kidnap suspects in Ubima Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The police added that it recovered ammunition from the suspects during the operation that lasted for over three hours in the criminal safe havens in the area.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad, revealed that the suspects were arrested during police raid in Ubima community.

Mohammad noted that the preliminary investigation carried out by the police had proven that the suspects were responsible for the series of kidnappings and robbery activities around in the LGA.

He disclosed that further investigation into criminal activities in the area was still ongoing, stressing that the police would not rest until area was freed of criminal elements.

Mohammad identified the arrested suspects as Okachi Isaiah, Benjamin Ohahuru, Enyele Eze, Orakwu Innocent and Ibuchi Wordu, adding that two AK 47 rifles, one pump action gun, one bereta pistol, 19 rounds of assorted live ammunition, three magazines and eight cartridges were recovered from them.

He called on the people of the state to always give useful information to the police, adding that the police were ready to bring sanity to the state.
