Nancy Dickson, the abducted younger sister of the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has continued to languish in kidnappers’ den after over 42 days of abduction.
Some concerned Bayelsa residents residing in Yenagoa, the state capital, urged the governor to secure her release.
The 26-year-old, said to be the last child of the Dicksons, was abducted on December 19, 2015. She was seized at her shop on Okaka Road, Yenagoa, at about 2.50pm.”
The governor’s sister spent the Christmas and the New Year with her abductors.
A source close to the governor said Dickson was not disposed to paying any ransom for her sister.
The source said, “The governor does not believe in paying ransom to kidnappers. When his mother was kidnapped, the abductors demanded ransom, but the governor turned down their request. They became tired and set her free.”
But a top security officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The governor should negotiate her release and then security agencies will take it up from there.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Butswat Asinim, said, “We are working on promising leads that will ensure the rescue of Nancy.”
