Uncertainties about marriage - Elizabeth Badejo

The issue of marriage commitment and developing cold feet is not peculiar to men alone. Today, quite a number of women would prefer to give marriage a priority much later in life while a few others would prefer to enjoy a committed and loving relationship without marriage.
The reality is women can be as hesitant as men about marriage and when romantic partners have different opinions of marriage; the conflict can be difficult to resolve. There are so many reasons why a woman would be delaying making a marriage commitment today and the reasons are always personal to the individual woman.

Men are hurting too

In the course of the week, I received quite a number of feedbacks from men who are going through these marriage commitment predicaments, frustrated and depressed in their current relationships and they all had very similar stories to share.

These men are all in their mid ages and have been in great relationships with their partners for some years at least and are dedicated to their partners’ financial and emotional needs at all time. Unfortunately every time the issue of marriage comes up, the women are very indecisive and often come up with what these men regard to as flimsy excuses which has made it impossible to move their relationships forward.

Excuse Excuses

A woman who is not ready for marriage commitments will come up with so many excuses to justify her feelings but the truth is behind every excuse is the real reason. Excuses are usually negative and her excuses may also get you to overlook your own feelings and focus more on her own position so that she can continue to remain in her comfort zone. When love becomes one sided, sacrifice becomes a Warrant for emotional extortions and whatever has been sacrificed for the sake of love becomes the basis for feelings of deception and revenge in the end.

Waiting for a while

In as much as it is hurtful when you realize that your woman is either delaying or uninterested in a marriage, it is important to also understand that marriage might mean something completely different to her.

It is not impossible that she wants to wait longer so that she can get to know you better; some women like to put their relationships to test before making a life- time commitment. A marriage is for life so why rush into it especially if you are both enjoying a great relationship. She also understands that things will start to change once she gets married and this is the only opportunity before her life changes to accommodate the changes marriage bring.
