Artisan nabbed for repainting stolen vehicles

AN artisan, Okwudili Nwodo, is in police net in Enugu for repainting stolen vehicles.

It was learnt that Nwodo worked with a car-snatching syndicate, which usually supplied him with stolen cars to repaint. The vehicles were subsequently sold to unsuspecting members of the public.

It was gathered that various stolen vehicles were recovered in Nwodo’s shop, located on Presidential Road, Enugu, when he was arrested by operatives of the Enugu State Police Command.

Police sources disclosed that Nwodo’s alleged criminal activities were uncovered in the course of investigations into the activities of the car-snatching syndicate.

The gang, led by one Kingsley Okoro, had snatched a black Lexus sports utility vehicle, with registration number, ISD 265 DJX, from the owner at gun point, at Ebenano Ekwe in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, on May 20.

Shortly after the robbery, the vehicle was moved down to Enugu and given to Nwodo to repaint.
