Fake AEDC officer arrested in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, has arrested one Anthony Adeoye who made money out of issuing prepaid meters to residents of Abuja.

It was gathered that the suspect met his waterloo when he was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps during a surveillance patrol at Lugbe area of Abuja.

The Commandant of NSCDC Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Patrick Ukpa, who paraded the suspect, told journalists that Adeoye was arrested at Lugbe with fake Abuja Electricity Distribution Company documents.

However, the Commandant noted that the Federal Capital Territory would be a hot place for impersonators, adding that members of the public should desist from patronising touts while trying to procure prepaid meters.

Rather, he warned residents of the FCT to go to AEDC office.

Adeoye, who regretted his action, said that he used to be an employee of the AEDC, but that he lost his job.

He said he decided to “render assistance” to residents of Abuja on the issue of prepaid meters.

“But the last man I helped was a bad luck to me,” he said.

The commandant has said that the suspect would be further investigated, prosecuted and charged to court for impersonation.
