Two to die by hanging in Ekiti

An Ekiti State High Court, sitting in Ikole Ekiti, has sentenced two persons to death by hanging for murder.

Justice Abiodun Adesodun found Segun Adeyemo and Gboye Babaniwura guilty of murder of one Sikiru Amadu and Yeti Abubakar.

The convicts were said to have attacked the deceased persons on September 13, 2011 with dangerous weapons at Iluomoba Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government Area of the state.

The trial judge held that such offence was criminal in nature as the evidence before the court had proved that the death of the people was masterminded by the convicts.

The defence counsel, Mr. Bode Kowe, during the trial, called three witnesses to prove the innocence of the convicts.

But Justice Adesodun held that they were guilty as charged and sentenced them to death by hanging.

The trial commenced since September 2013 when it was first mentioned.
