Bank customer loses N4.3m to robbers

An armed gang on Monday robbed a bank customer of about N4.3m as he was about depositing the money in Access Bank branch in Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory.

The gunmen, who shot sporadically into the air, reportedly blocked the customer’s car as he was about entering the bank and dispossessed him of the bag containing the money.

An eyewitness, Jubril Mohammed, identified the victim as a worker with Total Filling Station, Kubwa.

He said, “I think the victim must have been trailed by the armed robbers because the way they ambushed him as he was about entering the bank showed that they had prior information about him.

“I was standing right along the road when I saw a car stop in front of the bank; four men came out with guns and they started shooting. One of them opened the trunk of the car and removed a bag filled with money.”
