Suspected kidnapper of four-year-old nabbed

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested the leader of a kidnapping gang, Wale Ogunbadejo, who allegedly masterminded the abduction of a four-year-old boy, Attairu Amisu, in Ijebu Ode.

Amisu, a pupil of Abdul Rahman Academy in Ijebu Ode, was kidnapped on Tuesday October 18, 2016, by a member of the gang who pretended to be a relation of the boy.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the gang member had said he was acting on the instruction of the boy’s parents to bring him back home from the school.

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said after the boy left with the gang member, the mother came for the boy.

It was gathered that the gang later demanded N5m ransom to free the pupil.

Oyeyemi said, “The case was reported at the Obalende Police Division and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, dispatched the anti-kidnapping team, led by Olumide Jimoh, a Superintendent of Police, with an order that the boy must be rescued unhurt.

“The team swung into action and their effort paid off on Friday October 21, 2016, when Ogunbadejo was arrested and the boy rescued unhurt.”

Oyeyemi said the victim had been reunited with his family.
