Police declare pastor, three others wanted for murder


The Police in Imo State have declared a pastor, Samuel Ahanonu, of Orogwe in the Owerri-West Local Government Area of the state, and three others – Okey Ozuzu, Chijioke Daggarman Ahanonu and Raymond Egbunine – wanted in connection with the alleged kidnap and murder of their brother, Kennedy Amaechi Ahanonu.

The state Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, who briefed journalists in Owerri, the state capital, said that on October 20, following a distress call about a robbery at the house of the late Ahanonu, operatives of the command immediately swung into action.

Lakanu stated that it discovered that the deceased was kidnapped by the assailants and one Daniel Igwekama, of Ndugwu in Owerri-West council area, was arrested immediately.


The CP disclosed that in the cause of investigation, it was discovered that the victim had been in a protracted land dispute with the suspects, who are also his brothers.

He further said one Daniel Igwekama, of Ndugwu in Owerri West LGA was arrested immediately following the kidnap of the deceased by the suspects.

He said the victim’s corpse was later found on the disputed land located along Ndegwu Road in Owerri West LGA.

Lakanu said the state police command had intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects and all those involved in the case. He assured residents that the police command would do its best to reduce crime in the state.
