Woman injures man’s organ

Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday granted N100,000 bail to a woman, Bukky Babalola, who allegedly injured her neighbour’s genital organ over N100 debt.

Chief Magistrate Ipaye Nwachukwu ordered the accused to produce two sureties one of who must be a civil servant on less than Grade Level 14.

She said the sureties must produce evidence of tax payments and their addresses verified.

Babalola, 38, who lives at 7, Atan Street, Surulere, Lagos, pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting Sergeant Anthonia Osayande said the accused committed the offence at his residence around 1:20 a.m. last December 27.

Osayande said the accused, who lives in the same compound with the complainant, Segun Atan, sold N100 worth of local gin (Ogogoro) to the complainant but he allegedly refused to pay.

She said the complainant saw the accused on her way to the bathroom and demanded for her money, but he pushed her and she fell and her towel dropped off her body.

“But when she was able to stand up, she held the man’s genital organ and inflicted injuries on him.

“Atan is yet to recover, but still receiving medication in a hospital,’’ she said.

Osayande said the offence contravened Section 244(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The case was adjourned.
