A 42-year-old fashion designer, Mrs Bosede Shonibare, has been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate court sitting in Lagos for allegedly giving out her 16-year-old female apprentice to one of her male customers, Afeez Olufade for sex.
The State Police Command arraigned both Shonibare and Olufade for conspiracy and sexual assault on the victim.
The incident happened at Ikotun area of the state where both the suspects and the victim’s parents reside.
The victim was said to have been enrolled as an apprentice under Shonibare to learn fashion design, but instead of the job, the 42-year-old started using her as sex bait for customers.
Shonibare was said to have sent the 16-year-old to Olufade’s house to collect money she claimed he was owing her, PMNews reports.
The report says on entering Olufade’s apartment to demand for the money she was asked to collect, the accused allegedly locked the door, pulled his clothes and tried to rape her.
Olufade also allegedly threatened to kill her if she disobeyed his directive.
While trying to force herself on the victim, some neighbours who knew what was happening raised the alarm and the door was forced open and the victim was rescued.
The neighbours consequently reported the incident to the police at Ikotun division and the suspects were arrested and charged to court.
However, when the matter came up yesterday, the suspects both pleaded not guilty.
But the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Abegunde also ordered they be remanded in prison custody pending when they perfect their bail condition.
