A two-year-old grandson of a former Kenyan governor has died after being mauled by dogs at their residence in Kenya.
According to report, the two-year-old boy was playing outside the home of ex-Governor Nderitu Gachagua when six stray dogs from a neighbouring compound attacked him.
The child was rescued by neighbours and taken to the hospital, where he later died.
According to Kenya’s Nation, the case has already been taken to the police by family members.
Nderitu Gachagua died in February 2017 of pancreatic cancer while receiving treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
As at the time of his death, Gachagua was the first governor to die in office and was accorded a state burial in a ceremony attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
