The police in Imo State have arrested a landlord, Paul Opararugo, and one of his six children,Ogbenna Oparaugo, for allegedly killing their tenant, Udochukwu Iwuoha.

PUNCH Metro had reprted that the landlord, who was said to be a security guard at a branch of Guarantee Trust Bank in Owerri, the state capital, and five of his six children, allegedly stabbed Iwuoha to death over what the state police command described as a “family feud.”

The incident happened on Onumonu Street in the state capital last Wednesday.

The Iwuoha was to traditionally wed his fiancée two days before he was killed.

The landlord and his children allegedly fled the area after the incident, while youths in the community destroyed their property in protest.

Confirming their arrest, the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said, “We have arrested the prime suspect, Paul Oparaugo, who is the landlord and one of his sons, Ogbenna.

“The suspects were arrested in Owerri; the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department and the Owerri Urban Police Division are working in collaboration with regard to the matter.”

The CP, who said the case was a serious one, explained that the command operatives worked day and night before the two suspects were arrested.

He said police operatives were putting in more effort to apprehend the other suspects who were members of the family.

Ezike said, “We are working hard to arrest the other suspects. They are the children of the main suspect. We will charge them with murder.”
