THE Niger State Police Command has arrested four armed robbers in Fulani Camp, Ibelu Village, Magma Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were said to have been apprehended following a tip-off received by the command.
The suspects are Bello Umar, 32, Bala Ahmadu, 35, Isiya Garba, 24, and Isuhu Usman, 20, all from the Nasko area of Niger State.
Northern City News learnt that the suspects confessed during interrogation to have carried out a series of robbery attacks in various parts of the local government area.
Umar, in an interview with our correspondent, said he regretted his action and pleaded with the police to have mercy on him.
“I think it is in my blood to do evil things, otherwise why did I rob innocent people? This is not my first time, I have been in it for years; may Allah forgive me,” he said.
Another suspect, Usman, said he deserved to be punished for his crimes.
“I am not going to beg anybody; let the government go ahead and jail me because I deserve it,” he said.
The Niger State police spokesperson, Abigail Unaeze, confirmed the arrest of the robbery suspects, adding that they would be arraigned in court soon.
