A Scottish teenager identified as Natalie Cormack, was reported to have fallen from the 7th floor to her death after she lost her grip while trying to climb onto her balcony.

The 19 years old teenager who had returned home from her job was said to have lost the keys to her apartment and decided to climb over through her friend’s flat.

She had fallen on a restaurant terrace and it was believed to have happened several hours before her body was discovered by fire fighters.

According to a civil guard officer at the Spanish island’s regional headquarters in Palma, he said: “We are still investigating but it seems she did not have any keys when she arrived at her apartment and went to a friend’s flat.

“She was climbing to her own balcony when she fell from the seventh floor.

“We understand that she comes from Scotland and was working in a nearby bar, but we don’t have any more details yet.”

A police source also revealed that, “The entrance to the apartment block is on a seventh-floor passageway running between two buildings.

“The spot she fell from is a sort of an overhang that runs along the side of the passageway.”

A local investigating judge has been placed in charge of a routine inquiry and will now await police and local emergency service reports.

The teenager, who came from West Kilbride, North Ayrshire, was doing her second season in Magaluf.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British national following her death in Spain, and our staff is in contact with the Spanish and UK police regarding the incident.”
