Security operatives nab 6 suspected robbers in Delta


SECURITY operatives have arrested six suspected armed robbers at Ofagbe community, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The armed robbers, it was gathered, were arrested at different locations on Sunday between the hours of 9 and 10p.m., after an attack on patients and medical personnel at the Ofagbe General hospital.

It was learned that a Youth Corp doctor was among those that were injured during the attack..

Sources said men of the community’s vigilance team stormed the hospital after they were alerted by one of the patients in the hospital.

‘’When they sighted the vigilante men, the armed robbers fled the hospital and headed towards Ibrede community and the vigilante went after them after alerting members of the vigilante team in Ibrede.

‘’Three of the armed robbers were accosted and arrested by the Ibrede vigilante team. On their way, a hunter told the Ofagbe vigilante members that some of the armed robbers were hiding in the bush along the Ofagbe-Ashaka Road.

‘’The vigilante men went into the bush in search of the robbers and in the process, three others were arrested, ‘’ a source who craved anonymity said.

He said two cut to size guns were recovered from the hoodlums while those arrested were handed over to the police at the Ozoro divisional headquarters.

Effort to reach the Divisional Police Officer of the Ozoro division proved abortive at press time but a senior officer in the division confirmed the incident.
