Man causes stir in Asaba church

Activity in a church was disrupted on Saturday when a middle aged man, suspected to be insane, walked into the church and shouted, “I want God to forgive me.”

It was gathered that the church situated along Ezeani Quarters in Asaba, conducts prayer session every Saturday morning.

An eyewitness, Faith Nwokorie said the man appearance sent many worshippers scampering to different directions, though the pastors and few worshipers remained calm.

A senior pastor of the church, Chukas Okorie, said, “God is doing wonderful things this year 2016; the man is insane but as we were praying he walked into the church hall and asked God for forgiveness. I tried to lay hands on him but he pulled my hands off the body and moved out of the church hall causing a scene among the worshippers.

Sources said the man was a native of Asaba, who once was a teacher after leaving Saint Patrick College, Asaba.

A woman, Mrs. Beatrice Nwanbueze, who spoke to our correspondent, said it was likely madness ran in the man’s family, saying two of his brothers became insane after their parents reportedly died in a mysterious circumstance.
