Seventy-five-year-old suspected rapist and abductor, Mr. Akinlolu Ogunlade, has said he was influenced by the devil to rape 11-year-old Funke Olagbaju (not real name) in Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, last week.
Speaking for the first time after his arrest by the Oyo State Police Command, Ogunlade said he lost his wife a few years ago and had been living alone after his two children went their separate ways.
Ogunlade was suspected of abducting the primary two pupil of a public school in the city three weeks ago while coming from a church vigil.
The victim alleged that Ogunlade raped her several times while he kept her as a sex slave.
Ogunlade said, “I am 65 years old. I am a plumber and a security man. I was arrested in Akobo because I raped the small girl. She came to me and said I should let her stay in my house and I kept her for four days. I raped her twice during the period. I know her parents and I agree that it was a mistake for me to do what I did. Devil pushed me into doing it.”
While parading the suspect, Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said it had been established that Ogunlade abducted his victim and forcefully kept her away from her parents.
He said the suspected rapist would be charged to court to face the penalty for his offences.
