The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a couple, Ayodeji Muyijimi and Adebimpe Muyijimi, for the series of kidnapping that had taken place recently in the state.
The police specifically said the couple was part of the gang that abducted two Rev. Sisters, Perpetual Apo and Bukola Funmilade and their driver, Mr. Zwugwa Zibai, on Benin-Sagamu Expressway.
The sisters and their driver were abducted at Kajola village in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state in May.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs. Hilda Harrison, said the suspects were arrested in Okitipupa town in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
She said the couple had confessed to the commission of the crime, saying they would be arraigned in court as soon as the police concluded investigation into the matter.
It was gathered that the physically-challenged husband, Ayodeji did not actively participate in the kidnappings due to his health condition but he allegedly gave out information about their victims to the other members of the gang while his wife, Adebimpe, kept the arms and ammunition the members used to carry out the abduction.
The gang was allegedly led by one Godwin Ufoma, who had also been arrested by the police but is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The commissioner said, “The couple confessed to be members of the gang that abducted two reverend sisters named Perpertual Apo, Bukola Familade and their driver Zwugwa Zibai in May 2016 at Ore/Sagamu expressway.
“The same gang of kidnappers, armed with dangerous weapons was the one that kidnapped one Oluwatimilehin Olatunji in Okitipupa but the victim later escaped.”
The commissioner appealed to the people of the state to support the command in the area of giving information to ensure that hoodlums had no breathing space in Ondo State.
