An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Samson Eweje, to one and half years’ imprisonment for stealing a phone.
It was learnt that Eweje was apprehended on June 13, around 8.30pm under the Oshodi bridge by a team of the Rapid Response Squad.
A stolen phone worth N30,000 was reportedly recovered from the convict.
Eweje was also in possession of a G-tide phone and a Nokia phone. He reportedly confessed to have stolen the phones in the Olumoshegu and Ojuweje areas, Mushin.
Eweje, in his statement to the police, said he took to crime five years ago, adding that he had stolen over 20 phones.
Eweje had been brought before the court by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, on one count of stealing.
