Police arrest 29 robbery suspects, recover 12 cars


The police have arrested 29 suspects for alleged involvement in carjacking and stealing nationwide.

A statement on Friday in Abuja by the police spokesman, Donald Awunah, said 12 cars were recovered from the criminals.

It stated that the suspects were arrested from different states by the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad.

The statement said, “The acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, concerned about reports of car hijacking and removal of vehicles by unknown person(s) ordered a crackdown on criminals responsible for car hijacking and stealing nationwide.

“Consequently, the operation will be sustained to cover the entire country.

Cars recovered include, light green Toyota Corolla model, 1983, with registration number BUU 567 TG and chassis number, JTILOAE820020578; ash Peugeot 206 with chassis number, VF32AWFZE40911994; black Honda accord with registration number, TRN 704 SY and chassis number, 18GCM56836A046647; white Toyota Camry LE with number plate, KMK 108 AQ and chassis number, 4T1BG22K4WU386224.
