Man stabs friend, steals his N10m



The police in Katsina have arrested a middle aged man, Ibrahim Muhammed, who allegedly attacked his businessman friend, Ibrahim Suleiman Mai-Yaro, and also dispossessed him of property and money valued at over N10m.

The Police had discovered Mai-Yaro in a pool of blood at a location in Katsina where the suspect left him for dead after allegedly stabbing him and dispossessing him of the items and cash.

Muhammed, who is also known as ‘’Teacher” and who lives at Ungwar Alkali quarters in Katsina, has already been arraigned before a senior magistrate court, Katsina, for alleged armed robbery, “contrary to Section 1(a)(b) of Robbery and Firearms Special Provision, Cap R,11, LFN, 2004,” while the case has been adjourned to October 5, 2016 for mention.

Police prosecutor, ASP Hashimu Musa, said Muhammed was arrested last Wednesday, five months after he committed the offence and relocated outside Katsina to evade arrest.

It was further learnt that the suspect committed the offence while riding on the businessman’s Toyota Avalon car along New Ring Road in Katsina.

According to the Police, Muhammed and Mai-Yaro were driving along Ring-Road area in Katsina in the latter’s ash colour Toyota Avalon car when the suspect suddenly attacked and stabbed the businessman with a knife and inflicted deep injuries and wounds on his (the businessman’s) ribs and other parts of the body, which made him to be unconscious while the suspect left him for dead.

It was thereafter that Muhammed dragged Mai-Yaro out of the car and dumped him in a nearby drainage before driving off in the car, after dispossessing him of other valuables and money.

The Police First Information Report with case Number: KTX/140/2016 read in the court, revealed that Muhammed dispossessed Mai-Yaro of the following items: an ash colour Toyota Avalon car model 2012 with Registration Number MAIGAWO 69 KTN valued at N4,490,000.00; wallet containing five ATM cards; N35,000.00 cash; £1,000; €100; Rs1,000 (Saudi Riyals); three handsets (models Sony and Infinix Hot note) valued at N295,000.00; HP laptop valued at N85,000; driver’s licence; National Identity card and voter’s card.

The Police said its patrol team discovered Mai-Yaro in a pool of blood, writhing in pains where the suspect dumped him later that evening. He was later taken to the General Hospital Katsina for treatment.

The suspect, according to the Police, was said to have confessed to committing the offence alone during interrogation; while the presiding Magistrate, Hajiya Fadila Dikko, has directed that he should continue to be remanded in prison custody pending the time his case will come up for mention.
